Amazing, timeless, TOP of their game! AmaZing! DID I already say that.......?"

OPENING: The show began about 25 minutes later than the printed 8pm start time and the band launched into The Chain' and took us on a sweeping time machine journey of 21 songs and 40+ years. It was IN tune and AmaZing! Did I already say that?

Stevie Nicks was an ageless beauty of RoCK as was 75 year old vocalist/keyboardist Christine McVie! Talented ladies.

Band founder and anchor Mick Fleetwood continues to be the jet engine of the band, pacing the energy of the show and making our time machine a white knuckle affair! Fleetwood showed a youthful vigor and love for his art and career. His stage persona was invigorating and show stopping with drum solos and artist introductions. He IS a man who loves his audience and enjoys bringing his quality work to us!

Mike Campbell, the long time guitarist for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers was also a show-stopper with his timeless riffs to the popular songs! Free Falling, a Tom Petty classic, led a 3-song encore to finish the show! Stevie on vocals being led by Campbell was hair on my neck' raising!

Great touch with the Peter Green penned Black Magic Woman. Made famous by Carlos Santana in 1971, the band recognized Green as one of the early Fleetwood Mac originals along with Fleetwood and bassist John McVie in the 1960's! Stevie Nicks played up her role as the Black magic woman' with cool, vampy vocals and flowing black lace!

GREAT show! GREAT experience! Lindsey WHO?

Kashmir: The Live Led Zeppelin Show blew the roof off the Levoy Theater in Millville! It was high energy 1960's and 1970's classics performed to perfection by 2018 players. A GREAT time machine escape from crazy politics, stories, nonsensical news headlines and day to day life, Led Zeppelin songs came to life to a packed auditorium crowd.

The setlist: In the Evening, How Many More Times and Misty Mountain Hop kicked off the show and put me in my teenage time warp! I grew up on these songs! My personal Big 3 favorites kicking off my night was amazing. Catalog classics included Tangerine, Moby Dick and the power of the beat was evident by these talented players! Whole Lotta Love, Stairway To Heaven and the Kashmir finale was totally cool. I was strapped, white-knuckled into my time machine. I was brought back to a time of youth, parties and romance by these timeless classics! A++++

The Players: Frontman vocalist and harmonica player, Jean Violet was vintage 1975 Robert Plant! The raspy voice heard in British Rock, The HAIR! The mannerisms! It was a great performance with stage presence to match! He conversed with the audience and we felt engaged. Power drummer, Paul Cooper showed us the best drum solo on Moby Dick that I've ever seen. Power and personality! He also threw his sticks into the crowd to our loud cheers!
Andy Urban portrayed a youthful Jimmy Page on guitar and bow, much to the delight of the crowd. I most liked his Whole Lotta Love melody of chords! The icon double-neck guitar was awesome on Stairway' with acoustic and electric chords being utilized expertly by this accomplished pro.
Felix Hanemann, was expert on keyboards, bass and mandolin.Everyone enjoyed his versatility and skills on these iconic songs. A+++

The music of Led Zeppelin has crossed generations, stood the test of time for 50 years! THIS band brought the goods, they captured the legend! A+++++

Country and Rockin' Blues artist Wynonna Judd and her band rolled into Cape May New Jersey and rocked the house at Cape May Convention Center! Having kicked off a 14 city national tour on July 14th in Wisconsin, the sweet, ageless lady celebrating over 30 years of Country fame, made a pack house feel like sitting down to a Southern home cookin' meal with all the trimmings!

The songs: From Grandpa (tell me about the good ol days), to Love Can Build A Bridge, with full audience chorus participation, to an impromptu call of the redneck (from the audience) Freebird encore, it was a wonderful experience. What fun when an accomplished artist reaches out and touches us with a kind, loving heart and such a powerful music style. Her prowess on guitar, harmonica and her rare unmistakable vocal tone gave everyone a lift on their way out the door! A+++

The band: Wynonna's partner in crime and hubby, Scott Cactus' Moser, best known as the drummer for Highway 101. was a power presence behind the drum kit and on guitar and provided great comedic dialogue on stage with his devoted wife in between songs. LOVED it. Wynonna's spiritual searchings' amidst the trappings of celebrity and performance really shone through. It really gave everyone a clear picture of her heart and sincere love for both her occupation and the fans! Her band mates very tight and best in the world at what they do and it was evident. The tempo of the night was in high gear because of these great players! LOVE that pedal steel. A+++

"Rebel Rebel, you tore your dress..Rebel Rebel your face is a mess!" I may not wear dresses to tear BUT the music of DAVID bOWIE as presented by David Brighton made my brain a glorious mess for two hours in the intimate confines of The Levoy Theatre in Millville.

The Experience: An opening video reel was featured of music and entertainment celebrities reminiscing of their earliest DB influences as a no nonsense writer, composer and trailblazing artist.

David Brighton's Space Oddity then followed this awesome lead-in with a two hour time warp, featuring the treasured classics, dress style and artistic versatility of a pop culture and music icon.

To imagine a once-unknown musician-singer named David Jones would be told to change his showbiz handle to "Bowie" as not to be confused with a more notorious star, (Davy Jones of The Monkees) during the 1960's is almost unfathomable when you listen and soak in the body of work of the once lesser known. David Brighton, a seasoned veteran of Legends in concert, would bring David Bowie to life in full technicolor and sound! A++++

The Setlist: Blasting on to the stage with an eye opening Diamond Dogs classic Rebel Rebel, Young Americans and Golden Years..I was reaching back, white knuckle-gripped in my 1970's time machine, reliving a young me' playing the grooves off the vinyl in 1974-1976!

My earliest record buying influences was the Ziggy Stardust era and The Spiders From Mars! Suffragette City has been a top favorite since my early teens. I was living there, again..If only for two hours thanks to the prowess and power of these top players! "Ground Control to Major Tom".......I was mesmerized to favorite kid memories and parties and lost friendships of my early youth. What a Space Oddity, er, odyssey I was on.

Costume changes would "fire the jets" on my time machine for every era of classics and the transitions between generations was smooth as silk. Personal favorites of the past 40 years, Heroes, China Girl, Jean Genie, AND Cha-cha-CChanges' were RoCKIN! A+++

The Players: Veteran lead guitarist and backup vocalist, Switch and Bassist Trent Stroh, an accomplished touring musician with Eddie Money, Nancy Sinatra and Air Supply to name just a few, were top notch.
What a great presence for keyboardist-vocalist, Monica Schneider. Paul Nelson was a high powered guitarist and backup vocalist who absolutely thrilled the packed Levoy Theater auditorium by transforming in dress as Freddie Mercury for a mind-blowing performance of the infamous Bowie-Queen collaboration of Under Pressure!
Drummer Kevin Stevens, a veteran of sessions and stage he was featured in the original production of Rock Of Ages as well as work with icon Jeff Beck kept the tempo, in fact was the jet engine driving these timeless classics!
A total fantastic experience! A++++

Don Felder Rocked The Music Box crowd with a blazing 17 song set list of mainly Eagles hits. A total time warp, time machine escape to the 1970's when radios blared with Take It Easy (1971),One Of These Nights (1975), and the Felder-penned Rock anthem Hotel California (1976). The Don Felder show never disappoints. He is quite simply, a songwriter, a composer with hits! He is a front man "vocalist" in his own right and his ageless presence and appearance was unmistakable to the Classic Rock partisans who thoroughly enjoyed the escape from present day drama and heartbreak. The Eagles music is ageless, like fine wine. From the Country'fied Peaceful Easy Feeling (1974),The vocal harmony magic of Seven Bridges Road, to the the cool, vampy Victim Of Love(1976), my all time fave Eagles diddy, rocked it for me! Felder's 2012 solo album release Road To Forever, a #1 Hit at Classic Rock radio was also featured including the hard-hitting, Rockin' Girls In Black'. PLAYLIST GRADE: A++++

Band: All-star players, included veteran keyboardist Timothy Drury, a touring player with Stevie Nicks and Melissa Etheridge among others. Other veteran touring players who have played with Kid Rock, Kenny Chesney, Todd Rundgren and Crosby Stills and Nash complimented both the energy of Felder's play and hard-hitting tempo of the great songs we have all known and loved for decades! A+++

Don Felder is embarking on a 2018 Tour also featuring Classic Rock legends STYX and R.E.O. Speedwagon. Beginning Tuesday night (3/13), in Duluth, Minnesota and making their way back east for dates in the fall, It's a must see! WOW! TOUR: https://www.donfelder.com/tour-datesSteve Raymond Radiohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09362136970937050233noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3015353939687995048.post-88874265369575542332017-10-14T08:58:00.001-07:002017-10-14T09:04:22.469-07:00Concert Review: Rolling Stones Tribute: The Glimmer Twins!RoCKTOBER 13, 2017: The Levoy Theater, Millville, NJ

How do I say, the luckiest Friday the 13th ever experienced by me! As a diehard fan of The Rolling Stones since I ponied up the pennies at age 11 to buy the HOT ROCKS' double LP, I experienced all those great songs up close and personal by The number #1 Rolling Stones Tribute band, The Glimmer Twins! UP close and personal and resembling the legendary, youthful boys on that infamous 1972 Exile On Main Street Tour, The Glimmer Twins rocked, shredded, pranced, oooozed" and sang me into a 1960's-70's time warp that I couldn't get out of. NO, rather, I didn't desire to get out of! A+++

The Players: AmaZing! Mick was Mick, Keith was Keef,' The lady singer was Lisa Fischer, who for many years was the dynamic and powerful backup vocal presence of the some of those iconic, timeless songs. She did not disappoint. Usually, I research the real names of these accomplished "tribute" players but here I must admit for the sake of my time machine bubble' it really doesn't matter. The players were tight, the "characters" were spot on and I was truly lost in the songs! I especially loved not only the skill and stage persona of the "Keith guitarist" but really liked his joking around and in total Keith tone throughout. "I almost forgot that I wrote this song".............well, it's probably because I didn't" (insert smokers throat Keef' chuckle here)* Backing guitar, Bass, keyboards and drums were all apart of this special presentation. AND I must say the sax presence was Bobby Keys at his finest. THIS special musician also showed fine skill with the flute and keyboards. A+++

The songs: Covering the classics from the 1960's through the 1980's, the setlist was appreciated by all. patrons in seats behind me were commenting all night how great "this song", "that song"were and how convincing the act was. Just a fantastic presentation, a surefire escape for longtime diehards' like myself! The show open included a very cool old time movie clip of Chuck Berry plodding rhythmically on Nadine' and some classic Stones footage. The Glimmer Twins then exploded with Brown Sugar out of the starting gate. Wow! And that sax bridge! I knew I was in for a good night. While Brown Sugar is my all time favorite song by the legendary Rolling Stones, my all time favorite album is Exile On Main Street. It was the second album purchase I made with the limited fund$ of a 13 year old in the summer of 1972. From the opening number, Brown Sugar into All Down The Line' from Exile, I really needed a seat belt for my auditorium chair. The ensemble performing these timeless classics were best on Can't Ya Hear Me Knockin' from Sticky Fingers. The blues were blazing off the guitar strings, especially the solo from "hat guy!" LOVED him and his contributions! OTHER great selections included the Country diddy, Dead Flowers', a song I saw Brad Paisley join for on a Stones tour in recent years. The Glimmer Twins nailed it! Yes, it was a great setlist... but was missing a longtime fave, It's Only Rock N Roll (But I like it). A++

The Audience: Like most Rolling Stones concerts, fans from 17-70 enjoyed the generational prowess of the World's Greatest Rock N Roll Band and delivered powerfully, note by note by The Glimmer Twins! This appreciative group of fans, some decked on in Stones wear, was a bit too calm and courteous for me but I enjoyed seeing those who stood, danced arm and arm in the front row and shouted out their pleasure for songs. The audience felt the songs and enjoyed their time machine visit back to a time when life seemed "simpler"..WE need to be standing for the Glimmer Twins! B-

Thanks to The Levoy Theater, Amanda, Tyler and the volunteer ushers who were friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. I love attending shows in this historic theater. It's totally a gem for us music lovers tucked away here in Southern New Jersey. NO....there were no Mike Trout sightings on this fine night in Millville. A++

Thanks Bob!

TOMMY The Musical performed by The Off Broad Street Players was awesome! Professional, high level performance and orchestration that could rival any big time Broadway production. These amateur players ranging from school teachers and social workers and Med students to area grade school students performed with flawless execution. Holly Knapp, who portrayed Mrs. Walker, Tommy's mother was my favorite and a top notch singer and actor. As a fan of The Who for over 40 years, but never fully understanding Tommy, his story, I totally got lost in the plot and the journey of the deaf, dumb and blind kid. (who could still play a mean pinball)/

The dance numbers were choreographed well and brought forth the energy and flow of the production. A

Brad Vile, who portrayed grown Tommy' who found his miracle after several years of psycho therapy and poking and prodding was also a high level performer, He really brought Tommy' the character full circle from young boy to functioning adult ready to conquer his world. I thoroughly enjoyed the young student actors who portrayed young Tommy in Act I. It is often said in the performance arts that non verbal expressions are worth a thousand words. For me, the vulnerability of young Tommy's plight was evident through the concentration of their pose. A++

The musicians were fantastic and really brought my 45 year old Tommy album to new life! See Me, Feel Me' has long been my favorite from the vinyl and it was awesome seeing it come to life from the stage (and pit). A+

The Off Broad Street players have one more weekend of performances! PLEASE see this production. For Rock music fans, it will be a sure fire escape in a musical time machine. A+++
Much Thanks to Promoter Bob Rose and the awesome volunteer staff and technical/stage crew of The Levoy Theater! It is such a great theater, warm and friendly and not a bad seat in the house!
Connecticut based Rockers Riders On The Storm provided the "time machine magic" this night!

IF you love the music of The Doors, then this show was for you! Forget Flashback Fridays offer free admission into the showroom and free parking all the time and great bar service for classic rocker types like you and I but the stuff coming out of the speakers was loud and proud to younger more carefree days.

Every seat was filled for a setlist of classics! From Light My Fire to Roadhouse Blues to When The Music's Over, the band was spot on in presentation, energy, movement and emotional pow!"

The Players:

Frontman Eamon Cronin wore the leather of the Lizard King proudly and vamped across the stage to the delight of the crowd! He was JIM! Jim LIVES! Soul Kitchen and When The Music's Over were my favorite tunes performed this night that pulled all the players together in unbelievable cohesiveness. The hits and the deep cuts. What a night! The personality and Lizard-like persona by the lead singer slinking about the stage brought it home and audience engagement was right on! Band introductions were witty and cool. From introducing Daily's involvement with the real Robby Krieger to Rutledge's porn star good looks who "he would do" got a great cheer from the crowd and showed a sincere camaraderie between band members! A++

Ryan Daily was RAY Manzarek reincarnated! The Look, the vintage suit jacket, the hair, the demeanor of older-wiser mentor and confidant to a young poet Jim on Venice Beach was projected at the organ seat. Daily, has in fact performed in Robby Krieger's Band, hand picked by the icon himself. He played with Krieger in Paris for the celebration of Jim Morrison's 50th birthday in 1993 and on recent dates. The bass offered up by Daily for Break On Through was powerful and got the crowd rockin. A+++

Steve Rutledge: The classically trained guitarist who specializes in any form of music played on strings did not disappoint! NOT only did he tackle The Doors song list with ease but portrayed the subtle stage motions and movements of the legendary Krieger dead on! I was captivated by a young 1960's Krieger throughout. A++

Todd Alan McKeague was excellent on drums and percussion. He lead the way from the heavy hitting hits to the great album cuts of the day! He recreated the legendary John Densmore and the Latin beat that drove Densmore's passion expertly. A+

Crowd response was positive and excited.
The music of YESThe Borgata Event Center-RoCKTOBER 28, 2016

THE Legends, The icons, my RoCK idols from youth, Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman ARW, playing the music of YES roared loudly to the delight of a packed auditorium at the Borgata Event Center on Friday night, RoCKtober 28th!

The Music: From 17 to 70, a fan's delight. Jon Anderson, who first formed the iconic YES in 1968, was emotional, delicate yet a high energy presence covering nearly 50 years of compositions in song.

After a symphonic orchestral opening (Perpetual Change Theme), ARW launched into the Trevor Rabin penned Cinema from the 1983 release 90125. These players, ageless and graceful in their presentation allowed for a riveting ride in the time machine! Hold On, another diddy penned in part by Rabin and Anderson from 90125 made for a tasty "sandwich spread" between The Fragile Album sandwich which included Perpetual Change and I've Seen All Good People! WOW! Seat belt on. It was "white knuckle-grip" time in my personal time machine back to my youth. I had played the grooves off these vinyl classics. The musicians brought it home. A++

The Players: Jon Anderson was ageless and engaging! He did not disappoint with his musicianship and audience connection. He played acoustic guitar, tambourine, bells and harpsichord. Veteran keyboardist and YES band icon Rick Wakeman was ever present and was a driving force. AND You And I, from 1972's Close To The Edge was a highlight for me. The driving guitar prowess of veteran Trevor Rabin launched into Rhythm Of Love from 1987's Big Generator to loud crowd satisfaction. Changes, another absolute Rockin' track from the 90125 release was a great offering! Long Distance Run Around/The Fish (Schindleria Praematurus) featured a bass "clinic" of virtuoso proportions by skilled player an acclaimed sessions musician Lee Pomeroy. Lee has recorded, toured, and performed with a diverse roster of high profile artistes, including Jeff Lynne's ELO. Pomeroy really complimented the imagination in sound of a band who has had top billing for nearly 50 years! Drummer Lou Molino III, a Philly native brought much delight to his local following including his lovely, but tipsy niece sitting next to me all night yelling, "I love you uncle Lou!" It made for a fun Friday night and I did enjoy chatting with her throughout. A++ (Lou's Niece-C+)*

The Encore: Nothing short of spectacular! Roundabout from 1971's Fragile! While Uncle Lou's tipsy niece just looked at me and shrugged that she never heard this classic song, (She explained she was only 40), I screamed for joy. I discovered YES during the summer of 1972 at summer camp hearing Roundabout on the radio and have been a fan ever since! GREAT night for this old time Classic RoCKER!
appreciated the efforts of all these accomplished musicians including veteran
drummer and previous one time AC/DC drummer, Chris Slade, Cliff Williams and
the recently added Stevie Young, nephew of Angus and the retired Malcolm Young.

Going way out "on a limb," uncharted territory, recording his first ever Country music album, Tyler has enlisted a young and vibrant group of musicians to showcase a timeless, ageless yet present body of work.

THE SETLIST: Ok, a very youthful, creative and expressive frontman grabbed a hold of his signature microphone stand featuring his trademark Joplin' scarf and let out his signature "wail" to Sweet Emotion! I became locked in my 1975 Toys In The Attic' Time machine for which I did not want to return!

Tyler would pay homage to the Rock generals before him! A proud still shot of a young Tyler with Mick Jagger on the stage jumbo screen and slamming into a Beatles set that included I'm Down and Come Together, a track remade by Aerosmith for the 1978 Motion Picture Soundtrack of Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band was stellar. Piece Of My Heart, made famous by Janis Joplin was a rocking bonus!

Tyler featured tracks from his new Country release including We're All Somebody From Somewhere that incorporated very cool jumbo screen lyrics graphics, Love Is Your Name and My Own Worst Enemy. Tyler, the colorful storyteller for his music was very effective describing his writing and stories leading up to the foundation of Aerosmith. Still shots of Joe Perry and a youthful Tyler mowing the lawn in a speedo best described household chores growing up in New Hampshire and a chance meeting with Perry before a bar gig.
Other masterful renditions of the classics including Cryin', Dream On, Walk This Way and a Train Kept A Rollin' encore finale would shape and round out the set list to the pure enjoyment and participation of the sold out Tower Theater audience! A++++

THE AUDIENCE: Enthusiastic! Energetic! Gracious to patrons around them! A well behaved yet rowdy group of music enthusiasts. From 17 to 70, a packed house was well entertained and happy! A+

FINAL THOUGHTS: As a hardcore enthusiast of the man and his band since my carefree summer days as a 1970's teenager, I am totally convinced Steven Tyler will ROCK til he drops! He promised that in his storytelling to a very enthusiastic, eager audience. My favorite Tyler music is the (First) Aerosmith LP, the 1973 beginning of the road effort. My favorite tracks since 1973 are Mama Kin, Somebody, Walkin' The dOG, One Way Street (great blues prowess) and the Tyler penned Dream On! Tyler's boundless energy and star power, youthful look and songwriting creative' make him a relevant and needed entertainment icon and for years to come! Well worth the $ I paid..and would pay again! A++++

Joe Walsh brought 50 years of guitar prowess to the stage
and had people dancing in their seats. Highlighting his early beginnings
with the James Gang, Walsh opened his segment with Walk Away.
His reputation as a top tier schredder' was evident. He was the perfect
storyteller in between songs and showed us why he still remains at the
top of his game in the rock world. Also featuring an Eagles tribute to
"his brother and band mate" Glenn Frey, he led us through a hair on my
back raising, tingling version of Take It To The Limit. Life In The Fast Lane
was another great trip back in the Rock N Roll time machine! Joe also
introduced veteran player Waddy Wachtel to the lineup for additional
guitar fire power. He did not disappoint. I loved Wachtel on previous
Stevie Nicks tours and he was in top form in Joe's band. My all time
favorite Walsh riff Rocky Mountain Way, the multi-million selling song from 1973's The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get LP was the awesome encore finish! Once again, the hairs on my neck were standing on end. A+

Joe Walsh is on the road with Paul Rogers and Bad Company throughout the summer and The Joe Walsh Tour does manage to route to Atlantic City for a solo performance as well:

BAD COMPANY/

Paul Rodgers also showed us why at age 66, he still commands a standing ovation during live performance!
I bought all their albums as a 1970's teenager and they brought them all to life on Sunday June 12, 2016 in Camden.
Rodgers, like Walsh is a 50 year rock veteran and star since his
early efforts with FREE (All Right Now-1970). He showcased a set list
of 14 songs including a two-encore finish featuring Bad Company, the title track of the 1974 album and Can't Get Enough, the band's first pop hit.
Veteran band member Mick Ralphs is absent from an intense summer of
travel in 2016 and vows to be back. He has a capable fill in, Rich
Robinson formerly of The Black Crowes! He can play! Another 40+ year
rock veteran, guitarist Howard Leese, a long time member of Heart is now
a part of the BAD CO lineup. Mainstay Simon Kirke, a Bad Company
original since 1973 rocked on drums!

While I thought the band included deep album cuts that were unnecessary, the time machine ride was strong with Rock And Roll Fantasy, Feel Like Making Love and a forever favorite Gone, Gone, Gone!
Full audience sing-a-long was powerful during Ready For Love. Classic Rock LIVES!
It doesn't surprise me that these summer rock tours maintain the
energy. We the people have deep connections to younger days and better
times with this music. It was our soundtrack in life back in the day and
the authors really brought it home! B+Steve Raymond Radiohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09362136970937050233noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3015353939687995048.post-48358281943278944802016-06-14T06:36:00.001-07:002016-06-14T06:42:25.539-07:00Bad Company/ Joe Walsh Concert Review:June 12, 2016: BB & T Pavillion, Camden, NJ:

IT was an AmaZing day of storytelling through songs by an amazing songwriter and human being, Carole King. What a career! What a life not many casual music fans probably know about. The good, the bad, the ugly and her story told in all her hits..

Broadway leading actress, Chilina Kennedy (previously Mother Mary' in Jesus Christ Superstar first national tour and daughter Sofie in Mamma Mia), brought Carole King to life from the footlights with raw emotion and power vocals wrapped into one. Kennedy, an accomplished vocalist in her own right (her new album is available www.chilinakennedy.com), made you lose your place in the universe hearing all the songs King and her songwriting husband, Gerry Goffin, wrote for others and themselves. The Shirelles, The Drifters and others were the recipients of and made hits from the great compositions written by the husband wife duo. I was aware throughout my radio career that James Taylor's hit You've Got A Friend' was a King composition but never knew the Taylor hit, UP On A Roof, was another King-Gerry Goffin song. I never knew King was a 17 year old when she penned her first hit, Will You Love Me Tomorrow' recorded by The Shirelles. The Locomotion? I always thought throughout my 30+ year radio career that Grand Funk Railroad (in 1973) just stole that from Little Eva (in 1963)!

Don Kirshner, music producer, Label Chief extraordinaire was the East Coast catalyst for a teenaged King in 1959. It was he who had the "ears" that would produce over 400 King compositions that would be recorded by over 1,000 artists, resulting in over 100 hit singles and six Grammys. It's TOO Late Baby" a forever personal favorite of mine from the 1971Tapestry Album told of the heartbreak of her broken marriage and song writing partnership with Gerry Goffin. A new West Coast life and career would unfold and reach the pop pinnacle under the watchful "ear" of Lou Adler.

The artistry of Carole King runs so deep and I was floored by it and the execution of her story coming from this brilliant ensemble cast! I was SO emotionally breathless at curtain call, I floated out of the theatre and was thankful not to be thrown to the ground by security as I pushed myself against the traffic flow back into the theater to retreive my jacket left behind.

5-Star! Pay for the good seats. I will do so again, in a heartbeat!
100.7 ZXL, Formica Brothers Bakery, an Atlantic City Institution in their own right, welcomed a great night of BOB DYLAN music, pop culture and the history of the legendary artist and his original ties to Southern New Jersey!

While it may be common knowledge the former Robert Zimmerman was reared in the northern tundra of Duluth, Minnesota and would later stake his claim..and acclaim as Bob Dylan. you may not be aware that this icon of early folk and electric controversy had intimate ties to South Jersey. This night was a celebration of that connection!
Bob Dylan was first to plug in electric at the Newport Folk Festival in August, 1965. It nearly caused a riot to the accoustic sensibilities of the promoters, performers and fans alike. It would change the idea of the recorded message forever. Bob would endure ridicule and threats to his person for bucking the system. Turning up the decibels would launch the former Robert Zimmerman into the stratosphere.

Opening Act: Peter Stone Brown, artist, songwriter and composer and a holdover audience member at the Bob Dylan Forest Hills, New York concert in 1965, Bob's first electric offering since plugging in at Newport, performed Bob's opening setlist of that night: This man was channeling Dylan in emotion, looks and sound.
Mr. Tamborine Man was stellar and brought favorable response from a sold out crowd at the intimate Dante Hall, Atlantic City. Brown was a serious musician and a quiet yet friendly, soft spoken soul. We were thankful for the complete package of Mr. Brown. A

Headliner: The Five Believers led by guitarist-vocalist Jeff Schwachter powered out a full-on Dylan setlist of his best works! From Highway 61 Revisited, the iconic album released August 30, 1965 (50 years ago) to Rainy Day Women #12 & #35 and All Along The Watch Tower, fans really appreciated the trip back into the 1960's time machine! A++

Dante Hall/ What a fantastic venue for special commemorative presentations and performances like Dylan Fest AC 2015. The crowd, a mature mixture of young and old mingled well together and appreciated the Dylan wall art, books and records on display in the foyer as fans entered the showroom. Stephanie Clineman, Executive Director of Entertainment for Stockton University was a delight and welcomed dignitaries such as the President of The University and others. It was a total fun experience for all. A+

Special Presentation: Dylan Fest AC 2015 was as much about Bob Dylan's discovery of a group of musicians playing the local Tony Marts Nightclub in Somers Point as it was about the 50th Anniversary of all things Bob. The Hawks would delight south jersey patrons of The iconic Tony Marts Club by the late 1960's. The Hawks blew the roof off the place to the delight of fans and Bob Dylan himself, who requested these musicians for himself and his road warrior detail. The HAWKS would later transform into THE BAND. Dylan Fest AC would welcome family members of the late great bass player Rick Danko to the stage. Danko niece Danielle Cockburn and son Justin Grafton Danko would accept a commemorative plaque of the Hawks/ The Band influence on our great area. C
Concert Review:The WHO hits 50! 5/22/15 Atlantic City, NJ

Venue: Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City, NJ

Opening Act: Joan Jett & The Blackhearts

Let's start with openers! Joan Jett & The Blackhearts displayed ageless presence and awesome power with a rockin' eleven song set. Joan played her heart out with forty years worth of her own material dating back to her 1975 debut as a teen in the Runaways. After opening her song Bad Reputation, she launched into Cherry Bomb, my second all time favorite Jett song. My number one all time favorite, Do Ya Wanna Touch followed to my heart's delight. Joan showed total cool featuring her hits including I Love Rock And Roll, her top chart hit (1981). Playing from the heart and with accomplished players behind her, she was the perfect compliment to The WHO. Her new album release is called: Unvarnished. She showcased Soulmates to Stangers off the new disc. My personal faves are Fragile and Bad As We Can Be! Joan Jett also delighted a small group of us backstage before the show with a bright and friendly personality. I give this Rock N Roll Hall Of Famer an A+ in show and "person!"

The WHO:

Pete Townshend hit 70 on May 19th and The Who showed a sold out boardwalk Hall crowd why they are still going strong after 50 years, Hit after hit after hit had the crowd aged 17-70 rockin out!

A rockin' 22-song set list, The WHO kicked it off with I Can't Explain followed up by staples' like The Seeker and The Kids Are Alright. The 1975 hit Squeeze Box and I Can See For Miles had me frozen in time to a better time and stellar performances from 1971's Who's Next, Behind Blue Eyes, Won't Get Fooled Again and Baba O'Riley made the hairs stand up! My personal all time WHO fave, Love Reign O'er Me featuring accomplished keyboardist John Corey. Pete's brother Simon Townshend is also in this touring band and Ringo's kid Zak Starkey on drums! WOW! Performance and Showmanship: A+

Stage Effects: GREAT use of jumbotron screens for seeing our heroes up close and storyboard themes and retro artist photos of the band to match the song selection. The widescreen lighted rain was fantastic during Love Reign O'er Me! Pete Townshend's celebrated "windmill" shredding was apparent throughout and Roger Daltrey's vocal prowess was high octane for this performance. These men, all these men can still "bring it" and I would want to believe they will be back for years to come. A

Audience: Generational, from teens to 70 somethings. It's what legendary players attract. That's why I say, despite comments made by Pete Townshend to retire from touring, he has to understand new generations are discovering this great catalog of songs. The crowd was vocal BUT a polite, sitting crowd, standing only for periods toward the end of the show. NO bad behavior evident. B

Overall Grade: A
